Luciano Landoni, an Economics expert journalist, has started a new challenge, with the book "Risk's Praise":a tribute to the world of small businessman in the landscape of one of the most industrialized area of Europe, the one of the upper province of Milano and Varese. Landoni has interviewed 57 entrepreneurs of small and medium companies collecting their story. Stories of people used to risk in their work making use only of their self confidence and the confidence in their co-worker.

"Lombardia Nord Ovest” is a six-monthly magazine of the Chamber of Commerce of Varese. The second issue of 2011 is dedicated to Life Sciences. The objective is to offer an instrument of knowledge and analysis of the activities and of the projects developed in the main economic fields by enterprises and operators of the Province of Varese, as regards of the most advanced frontiers of research and production.

December 14th, Areta was invited to give a speech in the occasion of the CPA (Chemical Pharmaceutical generic Association) training course on "Development and Production of APIs", held in Milan.
Dr. Luca Romagnoli presented an overview of the ICH Q5 guidelines, related to the process development and the key quality aspects to be addressed when manufacturing biological drugs. The requirements for the cell banking systems, the validation of the viral removal processes, the quality controls of the DNA constructs and the host cell lines were discussed, presenting case studies covering the major biological drug classes such as recombinant proteins and monoclonal antibodies. Finally, the advantages of single-use solutions for high-quality biodrugs manufacturing were described, as well as the possibility to exploit their characteristics to build robust and cost-effective processes.
