areta was founded as a research and development company for biotechnological products, capitalizing on its experience gained in the generation of monoclonal and polyclonal antibodies and ELISA [enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay] tests, always relying on a high-quality and innovative service, keenly focused on the customer needs.

The main activities of its research and development laboratories are the generation, production and purification of monoclonal and polyclonal antibodies and recombinant proteins, as well as the set up, optimization and execution of immunoenzymatic and cell-based assays.

areta's technological platform features in-house developed methods and rapid and efficient techniques for the generation of new monoclonal antibodies starting from any kind of antigen, and for the production of dedicated batches of purified monoclonal antibodies, recombinant proteins and cells, with special attention paid to the adaptation of all cell types to the most appropriate serum-free medium.

The strategy for generating new monoclonal antibodies is based on ad hoc immunization protocols, monitoring of the immune system response of the animal towards the antigen used, fusion protocols and screenings, all aimed at obtaining specific and highly selective hybridomas secreting the monoclonal antibody of interest. areta offers an intensively focused service and the dynamic capacity to adapt to the customer requirements, supporting all the stages of a project, from the identification of the best antigen to the final labelling, if required.

In the field of cell and recombinant protein production, the process development service focuses on the optimization of the production processes and the final product yield by the identification of the appropriate bioreactor, the scale-up of the culture and the set up of the purification methods.

The modular and single-use approach guarantees a rapid, cost-saving and innovative translation of the project from the laboratory to the clinical application.

The products can be characterized thanks to a wide range of analytical methods that are already available in-house or are optimized according to the customer needs.
In some cases outsourcing can be provided by a consolidated and guaranteed network of experts in specific applications.

At the same time, areta develops immunoenzymatic assays (sandwich, competitive, direct, indirect) and cell-based tests (cytotoxicity, transport and modulation of cellular and pharmaceutical components, CACO2) for research and diagnostic applications, thus offering a complete array of services, including set up and validation of the appropriate matrix.
